Moving Forward
The world seems to be moving from one crisis to another, from the near possibility of
another world war to the rapid spread of a novel virus. In addition there are already
other lingering crises such as food shortage, pollution, global warming, unequal
distribution of wealth, corruption, faulty education, and struggle for ideological and
religious domination. All this may seem to hold a dismal spectre for humanity’s survival
itself.
Yet through all this, humanity grows and navigates through the challenges somehow.
New ways of thinking, new understanding about the body’s immunity and its scope,
new ideas about resolving the problems and issues that face us, new experiments in
education are also at work, though still a bit in the background dusk.
All this indicates that there are two kinds of forces constantly at work amidst us. One
are those that try to drag humanity towards destruction. On the other hand, there are
forces that are working to construct the future. They do not make much noise but are
quietly engaged in their work towards a better future. Man has a choice to align himself
to either of these routes. Yet in the end, regardless of his choice, a greater Wisdom broods
upon the world and will use everything for hastening our future evolution. The solution
indeed lies there.
To rest with humanity is to rest with imperfection. To evolve beyond man into a new
and more harmonious creature, to evolve from the half-animal, half-rational being to
an intuitive being. To evolve out of the mental prison to the wideness of the Spirit is the
road that man should undertake. Passing through a narrow gorge, he should emerge into
a freer, luminous space. Or else diving deep within his being, he must discover his soul
that has been buried for too long under the gigantic ego-self that the mental civilisation
has erected around it as a tomb declaring it to be dead. All other solutions are but
temporary ones. What is needed now is the radical remedy, the permanent cure.
